It feels good to pen your thoughts but posting it for public viewing is certainly not a great idea. This is because diary is a peek into someone's very private life. so why make it public?
Nevertheless, today let me talk about what I felt watching the Star Screen Awards. as always these functions are very bright and pompous. But something was amiss. Do You know what? Well!! Screen awards should not only be limited to Marathi Movies in the regional category. what about bengali films? How can we forget the legendary Satyajit ray or the much adored bimal Roy (Saheb, Bibi , ghulam) or the down to earth comedy movies of Basu Chatterji or the brilliant Hrishikesh mukherji or be it the modern day ace director Rituparno ghosh. We have the bengali bevies ruling the Bollywood today whether it is acting/ singing or art direction. There is so much of talent in bengali movies. So why don't we for a change recognize their skills and bring them to the same platform with others??
I am sure most of us have forgotten that the angry young man of Mumbai before he tasted success began his career in the 'City Of Joy'. There are several such examples. The sizzling Bipasha basu aka bips before she stepped into Bollywood was a leading model in The City Of Joy.
In a nutshell, Star Screen awards should step up its efforts and give due respect to the Bengali Film industry and treat it at par with Marathi film industry as the former is no less superior than the latter.
