Strictly Come Dancing

On the 10th September, 2011 Strictly Come Dancing hit our screens again for the start of Season nine. For the first time in the history of strictly, the first episode was broadcast in three dimension(3D) and in high definition.


For season nine of Strictly Come Dancing, there were fourteen couples dancing, following the same format seven celebrities and seven professional dancers. As with all the previous season, the celebrities had no idea who they were to be partnered with, this was to be revealed to them during the first show. In total, season nine would consist of thirty episodes.


As always, Season nine of Strictly Come Dancing had a wide variety of celebrities taking part, from members of parliament, professional boxers and singers. There was also to be the inclusion of one very colourful act, who would prove to be hugely popular in the name of Russell Grant.


This season of Strictly Come Dancing would again have a wide variety of dances performed, including American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Cha ChaCha, Tango, Waltz, Quickstep, the Salsa and Rumba to name but a few. Also during this season, we would see the exit of Alesha Dixon from the judge’s panel, Alesha was moving to ITV show, Britain’s Got Talent.


In order of their elimination from Strictly Come Dancing, the following celebrities took part in the show. Edwina Curry(MP), Dan Lobb presenter and former tennis player), Rory Bremmer(comedian), Nancy Dell’Olio(lawyer), Lulu(singer), Audley Harrison(former boxer), Russell Grant(TV personality), Anita Dobson(EastEnders actress), Robbie Savage(footballer), Alex Jones(TV presenter) and Holly Valance(actress). In third place, came Australian actor and singer Jason Donovan(singer and actor), runner up was Chelsee Healey(TV actress) and the winner of Strictly Come Dancing was Harry Judd from the pop group McFly, who won the final on the 17th December 2014.


Harry Judd who partnered with Aliona, average the highest score of all the dancers for Strictly Come Dancing with an average of 35.6. The lowest average score was achieved by Nancy and Anton, with just 15.6. Three couples achieved scores of forty for their dancing, they were Harry and Aliona, Chelsee and Pasha and Jason and Kristina for the quickstep, Paso Doble and Argentine Tango. The lowest score for the series was achieved by Edwina and Vincent, performing the cha chacha with just seventeen points.


Season nine of A Night To Remember had some very memorable moments, a lot of them involving Russell Grant. Some of them included when Russell dressed up as a big seashell, and on another occasion when he was ‘fired’ out of a cannon.


As always, this season of Strictly Come Dancing was another massive hit, with peak viewing figures of over thirteen million for the live final results. The show was often ranked in the top 3 for UK television viewing figure for that week.
