I have been using Sony Xperia ZL for about a day now and I am giving out an early user review as the phone is set to be on sale along with Xperia Z only a week from now. I chose Xperia ZL because although it doesn't have the water/dust resistance of the Z, it has 3 added features - 1) 3G front camera on the bottom as it creates a more natural way to videocall as the eyes can see the other user without having to look all the way on top for eye contact 2) IR Blaster to control TV/Set-top box and 3) Physical camera key. It has the best battery capacity at 2360.mah. Other features are similar with the Z including industry leading 1920x1080p full HD screen with Bravia 2 engine and battery stamina mode. The processor is 4-core 1.5 ghz. The prices are announced and its a total value for money proposition ZL @ Rs.35,990/- and Z @ Rs.38,990/-. In my opinion its far more value for money than GS3 or iPhone since its in the same price bracket (or cheaper) and comes with a 13.1 mpx camera compared to a max of 8 by Samsung/Apple with a screen resolution of 326 ppi versus 441 ppi of Z/ZL. The build quality is fantastic and there are no cheap breakable plasticky panels like Samsung. The rear of ZL does have a rubberised plastic panel which feels premium to the touch. The Z however leads an industry benchmark in build quality with all sides toughened glass and can survive underwater upto 3 feet and sand/dust resistant.The DragonTrail glass as I am to understand which is present on both phones is 2x tougher than Gorilla Glass 3. Overall very impressed till now. This review is temporary & will be rather brief up until the time I understand the phone better in terms of battery life, speed, ruggedity etc. Hope this was useful, any additional queries shall be answered.
