Some skills students must learn for the changing f

Education traditionally concentrates on the basic reading, writing, grammar and mathematics. But with the recent advancements in technology, our world is changing at a far greater pace than ever before. Hence, to keep pace with this trend, our educators must take a deeper look into the prevailing system of education and evaluate if the knowledge that is being imparted can truly equip the students with the skills needed to survive and prosper in this technology-driven world.

I have been thinking over this for sometime now and had also discussed on this topic with my colleagues on several occasions and also with my friends who are parents of students studying in some of the better known schools like Arya Vidyapeeth, Vibgyor High, Ryan. So some of the skill that were considered that the students of today need to possess to progress in life are:

  1. Emotional Intelligence.

Teachers today need to implement strategies to promote emotional intelligence in child. Understanding and controlling ones emotions is necessary because it helps the individual develop a strong self-esteem and balance in his relationship with others. Emotional intelligence is extremely necessary in building and maintaining relationships and can go a long way in shaping the future of our children.

  1. Communication.

Openly sharing information, thoughts, intentions and ideas create mutual understanding amongst people. Communicating with an open mind and heart helps build strong bonds which is extremely necessary in this collaborative world. Teachers who can successfully promote activities that educate their students on active listening techniques will provide those students with a useful skill throughout life.

  1. Leadership.

Leadership is not about a powerful individual anymore, it is about collaborating, working in a team towards common goals that interests everyone, and acting as a leader in any role provided. Schools can start working towards a right understanding of this concept of leadership which at most times get wrongly interpreted.

  1. Digital literacy.

Digital literacy is the ability to use to digital technology to work on, utilize or develop new tools. The usage of Digital tools needs to be aggressively promoted amongst the students to help them embrace this new medium and also to enable them in leveraging the same for the greater benefit of the society

Some schools I am sure must have already started implementing these but I think we need the various education boards that we have to work cohesively towards implementing these.
