Show me the Way

The childhood amusements are unforgettable. Whether it were colours of holi or crackers of Diwali or conch of durga puja or lohri popcorns, or meethi saviyan on id. Every festival had its essence. I loved the gatherings, enjoyment, food, rituals everything. I never realized there is any biasing. For me all were my uncles, aunts, and friends. There was a bond of togetherness, above all the religions and castes. For all of us, festival meant party, no one emphasized on language, or supremacy of one on other.

After marriage, we moved to a new city. With three and a half year old Muskaan and 6 month old Noddy, life in a new city was tough. But we both were juggling hard. I was reluctant for the flat on 9th floor, with two kids, but then the landlord assured us, to give us an extra railing on balcony, making it a safe house. We moved in.

As I was busy settling down, one fine day the fabricators came with the extra railing, without any information. But I guess I had no choice. All Alone, I called up my husband, and he assured me, let me get the work started; he will be back soon, as it was already late evening. Suddenly, there was a power cut, and to my shock, it was only my flat where there was no electricity.

Now I was a little nervous with 5 workmen in my house and two kids, who were very uncomfortable because of dark. Suddenly, two men came on the door, declaring, they are from the society and since, we have not informed them about the work, they have disconnected our connection. And this was interpreted to me by the work people as those society people refused to talk in any other language except for their mother tongue. I hesitantly rang the bell of my next door neighbour, explaining them, the things, and asking him to request them to put the fuse back, and I will send the people back, until the things smoothen. But the neighbour in turn, closed the door on my face, without reacting. By then, my husband came and after a heated discussion, they resumed the power of our house.

I was really negative after this. First person who comes to help you even before your parents is your neighbour, but here, it was not the case. But still, was somehow, trying to overcome it.

But worst was yet to comeā€¦.
