I went to a street side, once a week type market.. I saw something very interesting out there... Exact Ponds talc Bottle and yet the brand name said "Pands". A little twist in name is sufficient to fake locales. You may say this can happen only in such type of markets, buy from decent shops. One such decent shop had my favourite Swiss Appricot scrub. But when I used it, it was totally rubbish. I have been using it for 10 years to tell the difference apart. I reported, I was told this is "Indian piece", not imported. I guess, this can happen any where. People living in Delhi will warn you again and again for not buying Deos and perfumes from Palika bazaar. If you want to, try some on and plan buying after 30 mins. You'll realise your favourite Deo/perfume has no lasting...You'll be happy for not buying at that very moment.My Question - How do these look alikes come in market?Probable Answer - Refilling the containers you discarded is one such source.Another question - How to save yourself? Probable Answer - Defacing the containers before descarding. We have seen "Crush the bottle after use" on mineral bottles. This is to stop refilling your favourite brand's bottle and resupplying it to you.What I suggest-1) Remove the lable. Never discard before that. Let it be your Cold drink, cosmetic, Medicine, almost any packaged item that you can think of. Lets increase the dupli-makers job.2) If unable to do so, deface it to an extent that "they" cannot refill it. Smash you deo bottles, cut tetrapacks of juices into 2, keep permanent marker handy to cross the brand name. In short, lets increase "their" jobs.My husband calls me cynic for doing this. I don't mind.Not too many people would do this. I don't care.Dupli-makers will still find other ways. No probs.All that matter's to me is, I did my bit.Any other suggestion/comments...???
