Sanjeevani Hospital, Pestom Sagar, Chembur (West), a wonderful oasis of care in Chembur.

My wife and I had just shifted on transfer from Delhi to Mumbai. As luck would have it, we both fell ill with high fever on the very first day of our arrival in Mumbai. The doctor near our house diagnosed both of us with dengue fever. He suggested 3 hospitals nearby. Unfortunately we did not have enough cash and it was a Saturday. Now the banks would open only on Monday.

All problems come at the same time. I went to draw money from ATM, my card was rejected. Perhaps it got damaged. We did not have sufficient money. I called the doctor to suggest for any hospital that would admit us without advance deposit. He immediately suggested Dr Chauhan at Sanjeevani Hospital. He said, "I will phone Dr Vikas Chauhan. You just take a Taxi and go to Sanjeevani Hospital. It is on Road No 4 of Pestom Sagar, on road opposite Shoppers Stop of Chembur."

We reached and on seeing us in such a condition, the receptionist gave us immediate priority to see him. My wife was taken to Dr.(Mrs.) Richa Chauhan in the next room. We both narrated our symptoms to both the doctors. I told Dr Chauhan of our problem of non availability of cash today. We even offered to hand over our jewellery and wrist watches as deposit, which they politely refused and said, "After-all there is something called faith. Don't worry, we trust you." Their words and their faith in us we were so strong that we were speechless and emotionally choked. I was examined on priority by Dr Vikas Chauhan and my wife by Dr Mrs Richa Chauhan. They both said that we both had "Dengue" fever. They asked nursing staff to admit us in Delux room. He arranged whatever we needed.

Lying on the bed, I said to my wife, "I always thought that Mumbai was a materialist city which talked only of money. But now I see that our world is full of good people. It is our fortune how many we meet."

Our tea, breakfast, lunch and dinner was brought by the hospital staff from a nearby restaurant as Dr Chauhan's Sanjeevani hospital did not have any cooking facility.

By the next day, we were feeling very much better. I suggested Dr Chauhan to allow me to go to HDFC Bank to take out cash to pay him. He said that it was not advisable to go at this stage as I was not in a position to take any physical stress. He asked me the details of my bank and called HDFC Bank. Once again, a strange thing I saw in Mumbai, which I had not seen before. The Bank Manager sent his officer to Sanjeevani Hospital. He took my details of the card and came back after some time with a pay in slip and cash we had requested. After filling the withdrawal form, he handed over cash to me. All this was happening as if it was a dream. I was unable to believe. We were relieved to find such a nice set of people around us. Half of our illness was cured finding such a wonderful people around us.

We spent 3 days in Sanjeevani Hospital, paid all their dues, thanked them from our heart and came home to make a fresh start of our new stay in Mumbai.

Now, both Dr Richa and Dr Vikas Chauhan, have become our friends for life. We will never forget the faith they bestowed upon us and the treatment we received at Dr Chauhan's Sanjeevani Hospital in Chembur(West), Mumbai.
