Rahul and Kalavathi

I am sure you have read about Kalavati, she is the same lady about whom Rahul Gandhi made a famous speech during the Nuclear debate in Parliament. At that time Prince Rahul was fond of visiting the homes of Dalits and 'learning about India'. Kalavati's husband was a Dalit and a farmer who committed suicide in Maharashtra and Rahul projected her to champion the cause of renewable energy and he tried to use her to sell the nuclear deal.

This speech brought lot of attention to Kalavati and all politicians and Maharashtra's minister lined up at her home to offer her help. And in the process, the Yuvraj of India became a champion of the rights of the poor. And this image probably helped his party to win in UP and Maharashtra.

But today, what has happened to Kalavati? All the promises are down the drain. She still didnt get the money she was promised. The moment the elections were over, no one bothered to visit her or help her. Whenever Kalavati goes to a Govt. office to ask for help, she is rudely told to "Go and ask Rahul Gandhi". So, poor Kalavati came to Delhi (courtesy an NGO) to meet the Yuvraj to ask for help. But she didn't get get an appointment with our future PM and she was turned back empty-handed. It seems he was very busy and didn't have time for her. So, poor Kalavati remains withou a home, without basic facilities and a wasted trip to Delhi.

Lots of people voted for Congress, because of Rahul Gandhi, thinking that he would be a different politician. But looks like he is just like the others. Till election time, he spoke of Kalavati, visited Dalits home and projected himself as a Messiah of the poor. But today, he is in power and he cannot give five minutes for this poor lady. That tells us a lot about the future PM of this country. Looks like all those who voted for Yuvraj's party will be disappointed at the end of five years.
