Dr. Pentapati Pullarao had petitioned the Ministry of Social justice and the Anthropological Survey of India to help the backward community of Athirasus get official Backward Class status. The Athirasu community numbers only 70,000 people and spread out in two districts of Andhra Pradesh. A large procession was held in Rajahmundry city to demand such a status. Dr. Pullarao Pentapati is seen in the fore front of this picture.
The ATHIRASU Community did get Backward Class status eventually.
