Old Harbour Hotel - Fort Kochi

I am sharing an unique experience of mine recently in Kerala that left me in a state of blank and made me rethink - Do I come back to Kerala again? As a tourist myself, we have always known Kerala, as a beautiful and scenic place in south india with vast green lands and exotic waterfronts to mountains and wildlife to temples to rituals and culture etc.

I had recently been to kerala, so I landed in fort kochi as I have always loved been there. As it was very sultry and humid day, myself & my wife decided to walk-in to this nearby hotel called "Old Harbour Hotel" and have a beer. By the look of the Hotel, we were really impressed and we ordered some bear and shrimps. We were in a group of 12 people, who were site seeing and we waited for the entire gang to join us for lunch. After finishing the first bout of beverages, we called them to OHH as the food was quite good. Shinosh was the guy who really took care of us.

All my friends arrived and wanted to sit in the lawn. Some of our friends wanted to use the rest rooms and to my utter surprise we were not allowed by the restaurant manager. I was furious and demanded an explanation to the exhibited behavior, the hotel authorities, asked us to leave the hotel. It wasnt enough, as some of our friends already used the restroom, I had to pay Rs. 500 in Cash along with my bill of Rs 2000 approximately, which was extremely humiliating.

I even called Mr. Edgar Pinto the hotel GM to appraise him of the entire incident and he did nothing about it. In fact he started negotiating as to how much we should pay for using the rest room. It was not a pleasant experience at all during my holiday but it was so trivial an issue, I literally felt pitty for that hotel management and left.

It was a lesson learnt and I would never go back to this hotel ever in my life. You might be lucky.....
