ONE IS KNOWN BY THE COMPANY ONE KEEPS
The town drunk had drunk too much and was walking back home. It began to rain heavily and there was a black-out in town. He could not see his way and he tripped and fell into a drain. He tried to get out; he couldn't. He shouted for help, but no one heard him. So he wrapped himself up in his coat and spent the night in the drain.
Next morning he was surprised to find that he was sharing the gutter with a pig. The parish priest passed by. Taking in the scene, he said, "ONE IS KNOWN BY THE COMPANY ONE KEEPS".
The pig was offended and it jumped out of the gutter leaving the drunk to be the lone occupant of the gutter.
