O MY MOTHERLAND, MY GREAT BHARAT MAHAN
O my Motherland, my great Bharat Mahan!
I salute you for you are truly remarkable!
You revealed to the world sacred texts,
Divine Sanskrit, Caste system and untouchablity!
You gave the nation an idealistic father
Whose birthday provides a government holiday
For people to wonder who he was and why
He fought for freedom that is so confusing!
Our masters are so similar to the old foreign ones;
We could justly be proud of their brave exploits.
They plunder, raze and destroy with impunity
All that comes in the way of their prosperity!
They reside in our hearts and magnificent palaces
Constructed where shanty hovels shamed the landscape.
The dispossessed beggared, bless them for their style;
They helihop to cities just to enjoy a continental meal!
Still we count as a force for there is a lot of progress
Despite so many clamouring for constitutional privileges!
Milllions have E mail IDs, cell phones and laptops;
What if they do not have a modern personal flush out toilet!
