Mouthshut team today wishes shorts and animation filmmaker “Varun Mehta” a very happy birthday 7th November. Winner of 5 International awards, 3 National Honors and several other achievements, Varun has come along a long way in the field of creativity. Born in Lucknow, and lived in Aligarh, Varun developed the curiosity of Arts at a very young age.


Born in the family of educationalists, Varun was also supposed to take his career forward in education field as well. After completing his Masters in English Literature, he developed hi s love for the Arts and Animation and decided to step out of his hometown to pursue the career in Animation field in Delhi. He took part in two animation institutes to gain knowledge, but soon decided to move on to discover his own love for Animation.


His first success was ‘HP You on You Project’ conducted in 2009 where he made a short video that got him a winning spot with a brand new laptop. Following that he made several Independent shorts that gave him push further as an artist. His biggest success to date and road to fame came in 2012 where his film ‘The Unknown World’ won the best film at Buzzgoo International Short film Competition US with a whopping prize of 5000$. The following year, his other films ‘Save Trees’ and ‘The Wonder Stone’ also won awards and brought honor for the country.


Continuing the winning spree, he made ‘The Art of Farming’ for Altech which won many awards. In 2012, he established his own mini production house called ‘Wiz Motion Studio’ that deals with short films, documentary filmmaking and Animation films. His first production from the studio ‘My Last Visions’ was recently shortlisted to be screened at PSA Film Festival at Chennai.


Apart from this, Varun has also worked briefly as a co-editor for ‘Skylark’ Magazine. He has also organized several events that deal with exploring new aspiring talents. The most prominent one being ‘Blossom Short Film Festival’ held this year in March 2014. Also, through his movies, he has contributed in enlightening the society towards many social causes like environmentalism, Female Foeticide, Child Safety etc. We at Mouthshut blogging team wish this Young Independent Talent a very happy birthday and all the best for his future endeavours.
