MYNTRA-A RAMPANT, RAISING LOOTER in E-Commerce biz

I’ve been an online shopper since 2007 and 80% of all my clothing needs in the last 5 years since 2011 are done ONLY ONLINE. This may look strange but it is true. I can attribute the reason for this to the discount deals, easy returns, wide variety of choice besides this even we can save lot of time too in this busy life!


I never had any problem all these years of my shopping with any of the e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Paytm, Shopclues, Jabong and many more which I hardly remember their names.


BUT last month, for the first time in all these years, I had a problem with clothing major MYNTRA with respect to the RETURNS of a shirt brand YWC Order ID: 1033141-3306532-6234101( No one would have heard this I suppose but their exists a NEW brand with this name) . To keep the issue short, I’ve received a shirt on 15th Dec 2016 for a shirt size L and returned the shirt back on the same day of delivery i.e 15th Dec 2016( as the size received was too small than L) to get the refund processed soon to buy another shirt again for New Year! FYI, the shirt I received seems returned by many as the plastic bag is 50% torn and the clear tape had no gum too! BUT I believe that as long as the item is unused and in good condition we don’t need to bother about the packing. Besides I’m getting the product at 30% discount ie 1841/- instead of 2499/-.


After returning the product, I received any reply neither my returned item for a refund nor any delivery confirmation for next one week. Mean while, not to take a chance missing the discounts and product going out of stock, I RE-Ordered the same item again after couple of days with different size XL this time. After couple of emails, I RECEIVED A JOLT, SAYING THAT THE PRODUCT FAILED IN QUALITY CHECK AS THE PRICE TAG WAS SCRATCHED!( SHOCKING REVEALATION) .


Email Excerpt from myntra:


As per our records, I am sorry to inform you that our concern team has declined your return Reason: Damage-Price tag scratched. Hence, I regret to inform you that we will not be able to process the refund for the said product.


I tried contacting over phone( NOT A FREE PHONE NUMBER) to their customer care BUT NO ONE CARES YOU their. Every time you need to wait in the queue patiently, tell all the story to every tom, dick and harry and finally after many reconnections I ended up with some one named priya and she informed me that they have escalated the issue and said the price tag was scratched! After repeatedly informing her that the product was returned as it is she put no heed and finally told me they have footage of the quality team! Now, I politely requested her that I’d like to visit the warehouse on my own expenses to check on the footage of the quality check both the time of dispatch and returned to their warehouse. Now, for this she said the FOOTAGE IS CONFIDENTIAL! What a JOKE? Can I think that to silence customers like me MYNTRA Executives play a trick of this kind as a final resort?! I’m the one who is LOST IN THIS TRANSACTION and it seemed to MYNTRA that I’ve NO RIGHT to check on the footage EXCEPT LOOSE MY MONEY on a substandard, unbranded product and accept their verdict?! When I’m VERY MUCH CONFIFDENT ABOUT THE ITEM I’VE RETURNED IS 100% RETURNED in the same manner it was delivered, WHY DON’T MYNTRA PROVE ITSELF by showing/handing over the footage instead just trying to shun away from the issue without proving their innocence?! I finally threatened her that I’ll lodge a complaint in Bangalore jurisdiction if the footage is NOT handed/shown to me for this there is any reply from her. It’s now 17 days and NO update from myntra with respect to refunds or product! This is how myntra works! Now, Myntra seemed to me like a NEW CHEATER ON RISE by disposing off the junk in the name of failed quality checks. The same product is now under 50% discounts instead of previous 30% discount when I bought! This shows the demand for the product!


I’ve asked her 2 important things and challenged them I'd forgo my money if I'm satisfied with the reply for the following questions:




  1. IS PRICE TAG IMPORTANT OR THE PRODUCT? She said Price tag is more important. I said when price tag is more important why don’t they sell price tags instead of cloths?!




  2. What is the necessity for a customer to scratch the Price Tag? Challenged her to tell me 2 or 3 good reasons what benefit a customer gets if he/she scratches the price tag? NO ANSWER from her despite posing the question several times.






Now, If at all the tag is Scratched or torn THEY COULD HAVE manually added the price tag what’s wrong in it? Are we buyers buying them at FULL PRICE to offer everything in condition? We are buying them on discounts right? I received many manually written price tags from Jabong, Shoppers stop etc. FYI as long as the item is in mint condition and UNUSED, we buyers have no objection buying them!

FINALLY I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO BUY CLOTHES FROM MYNTRA IF YOU STILL BUY BETTER HAVE A VIDEO EVIDENCE UNTIL YOU GET YOUR REFUND!
