MNC After Sales Services/Maintenance

If you buy a branded AC or a refrigerator etc. you may need service at some time. My piece here is to tell you how it may not be the right decision to go back to the same company with the hope that you will get appropriate services and spare parts. Yes, if you are lucky, it may turn out so. You may get a skilled and honest service man who will guide you correctly.


But it may not always be the case. My experience is this. I bought a Godrej refrigerator. After a few years, I found it leaking for no apparent reason. I called up the service department and they sent a senior technician to me. I was happy thinking the man would be able to deal with the problem efficiently. But he told me it was a major problem, that he would report it to the company and they would repair it free of cost if I took an AMC. Since we are not technicians, I believed him and paid a whopping maintenance fee.


Sometime later, I contacted for a remedy. I was having to take an off and stay at home for every visit the technician made. It was irritating. By the third or fourth time, he came and took out the box and replaced it with an old and dirty one, saying stocks were not available. Needless to say, after cheating me once with the maintenance fee, he was cheating again. He probably sold it off.


After some time, the machine was giving some problems. By this time, the maintenance had expired and took help from a local mechanic recommended by a friend. This man saw the misdeed and asked why Godrej had removed my box and regulator and given a cheap,old stuff. This time he got another from a second hand machine and bought a new regulator etc. with proper wiring. The entire thing, along with labour costs. came at a nominal value of Rs 500/- Then I realised what the senior technicians at Godrej do. Get maintenance fees by duping customers. He made me pay at least 10 times the cost and also robbed my new parts, giving an old dirty one saying it was not available. Brainwashing to delude customers. Customers are not supposed to know the inside working of machines, it is the corporates' responsibility to provide honest services.
