Today I am going to tell you something about my BE project .It's name was'leaf spring testing machine' it originally had an impact because of the automobile suspension that were studied in 3rd year of my engineering.
The long term project of about 6 months was really an extra ordinary experience that we had on our engineering life of these four years,
The project mainly focused on the automobile component named as leaf spring.
Vehicle which is driven on the hilly region or may be some region which is difficult to drive, then on the leaf spring various load and impact takes place, this impact are just because of the disturbed roadways. For such roadways driving becomes quite heavy and then spring gets loosen to its stiffness. So for inspecting the stiffness we needed to provide a machine to check the stiffness for the leaf spring . Outer most part of the spring that is going to get mounted outside the small parts is said to be leaf spring.
stiffness gets reduced as the load & impacts gets increased,
stiffness increases as low amount of load is impacted on the spring .
The testing machine was in requirement of the different component for it's manufacture.
The requirement was of hydraulic jack having its capacity of 1 ton, a frame that was needed for fabrication. An electronic weighing machine which certainly had a calibration to be done, All sort of assembly was required to be completed for whole project submission.
this fabrication was completed in the workshop of mechanical department.
now many of us will have a question that,what was the influence of this machine on leaf spring? it helped us to calculate the stiffness from the machine and let us knew the fact that how long this spring was really going to help us for automobile purpose.
