With the increase in e-shopping, e-banking etc,. the fear of cyber attack is on boom nowadays. The intruders or those who are called Hackers are always looking for a small vulnerability which can be exposed and then they can steal money online from any bank account. There are various ways with which they are trying to steal your password:
- Using different combination of password: Hackers first try to get information about you and in which bank you have your accounts also your personal information like name, mother name, birthdates of your loved ones, favourite colours etc. and based on that they will use different password combination and try to hack your password and steal your money
Preventive Measure - Use strong password which is hard to break
- Beware of scammers or phising emails - No one in this world will give you free money so please don't get in false promises or wrong hand or try to search of quick way to become millionaire - beware of phising websites or emails which will have heading like I have business proposal and give you information about many more$ of money which is in one account and want to share with you once you try to get connect with this guys they will try to get your information and ask you to deposit some money to their account or provide your account details and once you provide boom your account will get hacked so beware of that.
Preventive Measure - there are many website online which give you information about this kind of email which is spam or not and the heading of such website will start from earn and become your boss, I have propose and blah blah do not open such emails
- Fake phone calls - From many days I have experience calls from various job sites, banks, finance companies who are giving you false information for instance in LIC the person will call you and tell you that do you know you have bonus on your lic policy which you have which is been eat away by your agent in case you want bonus and give us information another such fake phone calls your number is selected and you get this much money after that from bank they will ask you your debit card number, expiry date and cvv number this number is very important do not share this number with any or pin with anyone otherwise you will be on the edge of knife
Preventive Measure - Do not provide your CVV or pin number to any one, do not provide your personal information to any one
There are many ways, many preventive steps which you can use in order to save your self from such Cyber Crime -
Do not open your personal email id or bank information or any other information on some one else machine or in cyber café
Do not open any emails which look like fake email giving a link in that which show you as kind of facebook page but when you click on that there will be minor change in link like facebooc.com and you enter you login password you hacked beware of link you write or open in website keep eye in your address bar
Do not disclose your pin or cvv number to any one of your debit or credit card
Try to surf the important sites from your personal computer
Keep your computer up to date with all updates of Windows
Install good antivirus, spyware to catch the Trojan virus or any virus which steal information
Keep your antivirus upto date with latest database of virus
Keep firewall of you computer or laptop on every time
I know some times the antivirus and firewall block many exes or take time in scanning those but this is good way to prevent from getting hacked rather than not using the antivirus and opening any exe which cause a multi million loss.
Always keep changing your password every now and then and do not use your own name, birthdate, your son or daughter birthdate in the same.
Try to use virtual keyboards available on many website to enter information
I am sharing this blog because being a IT Professional I had been a victim of such fraud and it took me 3 long month to recover my money from the fraudster.
