ABHISHEK AND VIDYA BALAN TO PLAY AMITABH BACHCHAN’S PARENTS IN AN UPCOMING FILM!
Remember Cheeni Kum (CK)? Who can ever forget this film, which impressed majority of the moviegoers? Of course the USP of the film was the unusual pairing and its setting-a 64 year old unmarried chef falls for a 34 year old lady whose father (i.e. to-be-father in law) is6 years younger than the chef!
It seems the director of CK, Balki likes to play with the age factor a lot. That’s because his next upcoming film, Paa, has a weirder situation than CK. In Paa, Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan play a couple. And guess who their son is? None other than Amitabh Bachchan! Yes guys you read it right: Juniour Bachchan and Vidya would be seen as Big B’s parents in Paa! Strange, isn’t it?!
When Mumbai Mirror asked Balki about it, he elaborated that Amitabh’s character in Paa is shown to be suffering from Progeria, a rare genetic disorder in which a person ages three times faster than a normal human being. Only 1 in 80 lakh babies are born with this condition. So Amitabh’s age in the film is supposed to be 13 years but due to Preogeria, he looks 39 years old!
It would be interesting to see as Abhishek as Amitabh’s father. But I feel, what would be even more impressive is Vidya Balan playing the role of Big B’s maa! The actress made a smashing Bollywood debut in 2005 in Parineeta which won her lots of accolades and awards too. She became a household name thanks to her outstanding job as Lolita. Her second film, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, stormed the BO. Although Sanju, Arshad, Dilip Prabhawalkar, Boman and the Gandhigiri element went away with all the accoloades, she yet again managed to impress.
But it was Heyy Babyy which screwed things for her. Her costumes in the film drew her lot of flak. Same happened with her film released last year, Kismat Konnection. Her dress sense, hairstyle-everything was made fun of! In fact, Vidya Balan and her so called faux pas became the joke of the season, esp in award ceremonies!
In between, she was seen in Halla Bol, Salaam-E-Ishq and Eklavya and all the three films flopped. But 2009 seems to be a lucky year for her. She has shed all her excess weight. In fact, she has lost 10 kilos recently and is looking stunning nowadays! And off-late, she can be seen in a lot of parties and events, elegantly dressed without exposing and yet managing to look beautiful! This is in true sense real beauty!
And moreover, two of her films that’ll release this year are sure to bring her lots and lots of appreciation. One is above mentioned Paa. The second film is Ishqiya, produced by Vishal Bharadwaj (director of Maqbool, Makdee, Omkara and the upcoming Kaminey). Directed by debutant Abhishek Chaubey, it also stars Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah. Like Omkara, Ishqiya is also set in eastern UP. Vidya plays a complex character in the film and will be seen speaking the local language fluently. She has an interesting role in the film too-she fools the uncle-nephew jodi played by Arshad and Naseer. So she may have grey shades in her role. And it would be a treat to see Vidya Balan essaying such a character. And a true professional that she is, she’ll definitely do a great job!
Mark my words-Ishqiya and Paa would rock! It’ll bring back to Vidya her lost respect and prestige! Way to go!
