2 LOVE STORIES TO CLASH ON VALENTINE'S DAY WEEK!

It will be an interesting clash this Friday. Both the films that release tomorrow are pitched as classic love stories, shot beautifully, have great music and will try their best to cash in on the Valentine's Day fever. My views on these films:

FITOOR: This is a film directed by Abhishek Kapoor, who earlier made Rock On 2 and Kai Po Che. It is based on Charles Dickens' classic novel Great Expectations and stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif. Tabu also features in a dynamic role. The music, by Amit Trivedi, has made a mark while the film has been shot beautifully in Kashmir and Poland. Aditya-Katrina look great together. The film can have a great opening, especially in the metros and multiplexes. However, it looks a bit like a niche film and that can affect it's prospects in the mass-dominated theatres. But a good word of mouth can do wonders even in this regard, as it happened last month with Airlift.

SANAM RE: This film is Divya Khosla Kumar's second directorial debut after 2014's successful musical Yaariyan. What strikes instantly about the film is that the locales in the film take the breath away. Credit also goes to the cinematographer(Sameer Arya). The film stars Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam and also features Urvashi Rautela. The actors look quite sexy and hot and have caught the attention of the viewers. Also, Rishi Kapoor's cameo can be an interesting watch. The film has also been in the news thanks to Pulkit's link up with Yami. At the same time, he announced his separation with wife Shweta Rohira, immediately leading to speculations that Yami is responsible for it. On the other hand, Urvashi has alleged that after she spoke openly about Pulkit-Yami's real life romance, she has been dropped from the promotional tours. Many find this whole thing a publicity stunt but somewhere, it has helped the film stay in the news. The opening might not be as huge as Fitoor but it can surprise. After all, one should never underestimate a love story with great music. Last week's Sanam Teri Kasam didn't have a big opening but it wasn't disastrous either, taking the industry by surprise. Hence, Sanam Re can open well and how it will eventually fare depends on the content.
