BAJIRAO MASTANI ZOOMS AHEAD OF DILWALE!
In the clash of Dilwale vs Bajirao Mastani, mostly everyone in the trade felt that it's Dilwale that will have an upper edge. And it did open well and better than Bajirao Mastani. However, the tide changed in the weekdays. Dilwale that got mixed response dropped considerably on Monday while Bajirao Mastani hardly had 15% fall(as compared to its Friday earnings) as it's word of mouth was better. The same story was repeated on Tuesday. Wednesday surprisingly saw very little drop for both, probably as today(Thursday) is a Holiday(Eid). And even today, the collections will be great as tomorrow is a huge holiday(Christmas). And needless to say, the collections can go on a high tomorrow but will be back to normal levels on Saturday and Sunday.
As of now, it's difficult to say how much will Dilwale suffer. It will benefit today and even tomorrow and actually even on Saturday and Sunday. It's the second Monday that will tell the real story. Again, next week, there will be a surge in collections on Thursday(New Year's Eve), Friday(New Year's Holiday) and 3rd Saturday and Sunday. Even if Dilwale falls after that, it won't be much of a problem as the film would have collected a lot by then. Dilwale would collect around 94-95 crore in Week 1 and even if does 150 crore lifetime, it will be a respectable figure. And it can happen considering the number of holidays, despite the not so great word of mouth.
Bajirao Mastani on the other hand will slowly and steadily make a mark. The Week 1 collections are respectable. The 15% Monday drop has shown that it's a lambi race ka ghoda. It will surely do well till the 3rd weekend and also later on. However, there are high chances that it can cross Dilwale's collections. And this will be a significant thing to happen if a Ranveer-Deepika film crosses the collections of SRK-Kajol film. Let's wait!
