WILL DRISHYAM WORK DESPITE THE ODDS?

Ajay Devgn, who off late has done a lot of commercial masala films is now back but with a hard-hitting thriller Drishyam. This is a remake of a commercially successful and acclaimed 2013 Malayalam film of the same name that starred Mohanlal in the lead role. It has been remake in Telegu, Kannada, Tamil and its Hindi version is all set to release tomorrow. The film also stars Tabu and Shriya Saran. The trailer of the film is very intriguing, that doesn’t reveal much about the film but enhances curiosity. Ajay looks great and same goes for Tabu. Interestingly, both are not romantically paired in this film. Songs have made no impact at all.

The biggest advantage for Drishyam is that it’s a remake of a very successful film. And the Hindi remake is helmed by the much respected Nishikant Kamat. Hence, there’s no doubt that it’s going to be a very good film. However, the buzz for the film is limited which is obvious since it’s not a typical entertainer of sorts. Hence, the first day might be poor or average. However, the film can significantly pick up from Day 2. With no real competition till Brothers’ release on August 14, Drishyam can have a great run. But Bajrangi Bhaijaan is still going strong. It will complete 15 days by the time Drishyam releases but it can still affect its collections. But there’s a possibility that both films can co-exist at the box office, especially if audiences collectively accept Drishyam.

Here’s hoping Drishyam works especially if it’s a nice film! It looks great and unconventional and fine qualitative cinema after all!
