WILL THIS DEVIL IMPRESS AUDIENCES?

Salman Khan’s last film Jai Ho had under-performed at the box office. Even though it had a social angle, it was more or less a so-called typical Salman Khan film – in terms of action, his entry sequence, going shirtless in the climax etc. Many perhaps feared that if Kick is also similar to the rest of the recent Salman films, it’ll have a tough time as well. However, all doubts were laid to rest as soon as the theatrical trailer was unveiled. It gave a strong indication that though Kick is an action entertainer, it stands out as its action scenes are rich and truly-out-of-this-world, at par with Hollywood biggies. Salman looks too good and the scene where he coolly crosses the railway line is surely one of the best sequences ever! Moreover, his chemistry with Jacqueline Fernandez is lovely. The presence of Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a Salman Khan film makes it all the more interesting. It’s good to see both of them being highlighted in the posters of the film as well!

Songs have caught on and that Salman has sung a song(Hangover) has made the album all the more exciting. Nargis Fakhri features in a song(Devil) that’s been composed by Yo Yo Honey Singh – the rapper’s first collaboration with Salman. Dialogues are another plus, especially ‘Main dil mein aata hoon, samaj mein nahin’ that has been loved a lot, more so because it suits Salman’s personality to the T.

With so many factors going in Kick’s favour, the film is all set to rock the box office and maybe, even break records. The weekend is going to be huge and Monday evening shows will attract hordes of people as well as Tuesday July 29 is a Holiday(Eid). And needless to say, Tuesday therefore will help the film earn a lot of money as well. However, if Kick needs to sustain and even needs to cross the 200-crore-mark, it needs to be a well-made and stylish film, as promised by its promos. If it turns out to be a disappointing or ‘just another Salman film’, it can fall after the Eid holiday and in the second week.

Here’s hoping Kick is a great entertainer and works big, big time at the box office!
