WILL SALMAN CONTINUE IT’S DREAM RUN WITH JAI HO?

Salman Khan didn’t have a single release in 2013 and yet, remained in news thanks to his various appearances at various events, hosting Bigg Boss 7 and a lot more. Hence, nobody missed him as such and yet, almost all are excited to know that he was coming back with a release in the form of Jai Ho, which hits screens tomorrow.

Jai Ho is unlike the recent Salman films, in the sense that it has action, dialoguebaazi etc in trademark Salman style but at the same time it’s more of a social film and has an important message. The promotions have been low-key but it seems that it’s intentional. The trailer was unveiled just 40 days before the release, unlike other films that release their trailers 2-3 months prior to release. Songs were unveiled much later but barring Baaki Sab First Class Hai, none of the songs have managed to make a mark sadly. Even the promos haven’t got thumbs up from all sections of audiences. Many complain that it looks like a mishmash of previous films of Salman. Sadly, that isn’t true because, as I have aforementioned, Jai Ho is more of a social film. But this aspect of the film hasn’t come out well in the promos, maybe. Moreover, the film has loads of actors besides Salman like Daisy Shah, Tabu, Danny Denzongpa, Mahesh Thakur, Ashmit Patel, Yash Tonk, Sana Khan, Haroon Qazi, Mohnish Bahl, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mukul Dev, Aditya Pancholi, Bruna Abdalah, Sudesh Lahiri, Santosh Shukla etc(and reportedly also Genelia DSouza, Suniel Shetty, Pulkit Samrat, Tulip Joshi, Nauheed Cyrusi and Nadira Babbar). Only few of them have been unveiled in promos so far but the presence of none of them has helped the film much. Even Tabu portraying Salman’s sister isn’t been talked about. Hence, it’s only Salman Khan’s star power that is a significant reason for many to see the film.

Despite so many challenges, Jai Ho has embarked upon a good advance booking, especially in the single screens. Opening can be huge and same will be for the weekend. However, for Jai Ho to break any records, it needs to be a very good film. Only then will it have a positive word of mouth and a section of audience will come again to see the film, which in turn will give boost to its earnings. Let’s hope for the best!
