Fenil's Bollywood Talk # 204

THE MUCH AWAITED WEEKEND IS FINALLY HERE!

The two films that release tomorrow haven’t generated considerable excitement. But both seem interesting enough. My take:

ISHAQZAADE: The film marks the debut of Boney Kapoor’s son Arjun and is directed by Do Dooni Chaar director Habib Faisal. The leading lady is Parineeti Chopra who won everyone’s hearts with her cute act in Ladies VS Ricky Bahl. The film is been talked ever since the first trailer was out and the songs too have been appreciated, especially Pareshaan! The movie has been filmed in and around Lucknow and although the story is set in the summers, Ishaqzaade was actually shot in freezing winters! Moreover, both Arjun-Parineeti had to undergo intense training and had to learn gun firing. Parineeti in fact has now become a pro in hitting the bullseye!

A lot of newcomers are launched on a regular basis in Bollywood but very few attract eyeballs even before the release. Ayushman Khurana did it before Vicky Donor and the same can be seen for Arjun Kapoor. And that is a huge feat! As for Ishaqzaade, the opening will be moderate but if the response is good, it can and will grow!

DANGEROUS ISHHQ: The promos of the film are ordinary. The songs too haven’t been appreciated much. Yet, this film deserves to be awaited simply because it’s Vikram Bhatt’s second 3D outing after Haunted. In fact, even Haunted (which was a box office success) hadn’t created much buzz before release. Moreover, the lead was the ‘flop actor’ Mimoh aka Mahaakshay Chakraborty! Dangerous Ishhq at least has Karisma Kapoor, who returns to acting after almost 7-8 years! The film deals with past life regression and has Karisma traveling to 3 to 4 past lives in order to rescue her kidnapped boyfriend (Rajneesh Duggal) in the present day! The makers on Sunday released a 4.22 minutes of the film which has got a positive response (though I haven’t seen it as I don’t want to spoil my joy!). Again, excitement isn’t much for the film as of now but just like Ishaqzaade, it can grow with a good word of mouth!

Lastly, The Forest that was scheduled to release last week (and which was discussed in last week’s Bollywood Talk) got postponed to tomorrow because of Censor issues.

AAMIR SCORES A SIXER WITH SATYAMEV JAYATE!

The first episode of Aamir Khan’s TV show Satyamev Jayate created a rock solid impact! It very nicely justified the tagline ‘Dil pe lagegi tabhi baat banegi’! I am already looking forward for the weekend so that I get to watch the second episode soon! If time permits, do go through my views on the show here: https://mouthshut.com/blog/iheflppllm/Satyamev-JayateHits-you-and-how
