FLOOD OF FILMS YET AGAIN TOMORROW!
Tomorrow again sees the release of as many of 4 films. All are different from the other and offers wide choice to the viewers. All are made on moderate/low cost and hence recovery should be easy. My take on these 4 films
RAGINI MMS: Seems like a winner. Made in just 1.5 crore, it’s going to be released in Hindi as well as Telegu version. It seems to be made on the lines of Ekta Kapoor’s 2010 surprise hit Love Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD). The lead actor is Rajkumar Yadav who shined in LSD’s 2nd story and actress is Kainaz Motivala who was seen in Wake Up Sid and Paatshaala. She has already got a fan following (after all she studied in my college!). Promotion is terrific. Although a similar horror film Haunted released last Friday, it won’t affect Ragini MMS as both horror films are as different as chalk and cheese. It has to be seen if the film lives up to its expectations.
STANLEY KA DABBA: It’s directed by Amole Gupte, Taare Zameen Par’s creative director and who was seen as Bhope Bhau in Kaminey. The beauty of this film was it consists of child actors who had no knowledge that Amole was making a feature film with them. Also, no child had to skip school for shooting and film work was done just for 4-5 hours a day (only during weekends) so that children’s studies and health doesn’t get affected! So confident is Amole with the film that he showed to many personalities 2 weeks before the release and they all are raving about the film. Film also stars Amole himself and also Divya Dutta and others.
LOVE U MR KALAKAAR: It seems like a sweet and simple love story, just how a Rajshri film is supposed to be. Starring Tusshar and Amrita Rao, the music is soulful but hasn’t caught on the people. Promotion has been okay but hype has been almost nil for the film sadly. Good word of mouth might help the film but it’s sure to get affected by competition from Ragini MMS. Let’s hope for the best!
SHAGIRD: This is a film that was lying in cans since almost 2 years. If you have seen the promos, I m sure it would have put a smile on your face thanks to Nana Patekar’s antiques and dialogues which also remind you of his terrific act in Ab Tak Chappan. The film also stars director Anurag Kashyap. Again, excitement for it is low and in fact, it might be worst affected of all 4 films.

RAGINI MMS IN JEOPARDY!
Controversy always helps the film to be in news. However, it can also cause problems to its makers as is the case with Ragini MMS. The film is in the news for 2 wrong reasons. Firstly, some sections had reservations with the big hoardings of Ragini MMS put up. They felt it was too obscene and therefore forcefully removed it. Secondly, the film is based on a real-life incident of a Delhi girl named Deepika. The girl’s identity is kept under wraps as of now but she’s threatening legal action as she’s not been shown the film prior to release. Since it’s her own story, she wants to see it before anyone else.
