2011 ALL SET TO BEGIN ON A ROCKING NOTE!

As mentioned in my previous dp on the most awaited films of 2011, it’s always difficult to publicize a film on the strength of solely its female leads. A film unfortunately requires a famous male actor to be in the news and get audience to theatres. Heroines alone might fail. Remember the dismal performance of We Are Family at the box office inspite of Kajol and Kareena?

However, tomorrow’s release No One Killed Jessica (NOKJ) has managed to create considerable excitement amongst audiences inspite of no famous male actor in the star cast. The film has been wonderfully publicized by UTV(who also nicely marketed another ‘hero-less’ film Fashion in 2008) and its first promo itself was excellent to say the least. Songs are terrific, especially Dilliand Aali Re! Amit Trivedi comes up with yet another winning composition! The USP of the film is undoubtedly Rani Mukherjee who’ll be seen in a terrific role after ages! She looks ravishing as the bindass reporter uttering swear words! NOKJ also stars Vidya Balan who is expected to give a powerful performance as well. Both the talented ladies have toured various cities to promote the film and share a great chemistry.

The film is based on the Jessica Lal murder, a case that garnered nationwide attention and is still discussed. That a film of such a nature is helmed by Rajkumar Gupta (director of the critically acclaimed Aamir) gives an indication that NOKJ will be a film to watch out for. The film, although has created hype, is not expected to take earth-shattering opening and is expected to start slow. But if response is good, it will surely grow and should be the first success of the year. Also, it’s a reasonably budgeted film and has covered almost the entire cost from the sale of TV rights! Let’s hope it lives upto the expectations!

2011-THE YEAR OF SRK?

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to give an entertaining time to the viewers this year. The adventurous reality show, Zor Ka Jhatka, which will be aired soon has SRK as the host. Then 2 of his most awaited films, Ra.One and Don 2 are expected to hit screens this year. The Ra.One poster was unveiled on Sunday and although it received mixed response, it also upped the hype for the film manifold! It is expected to release by Diwali. Don 2 meanwhile will be arriving during Xmas which has also made SRK fans wait for it with bated breath!

In December, the biggest and most surprising announcement of 2010 was made when it came to light that SRK has signed Vishal Bhardwaj’s movie, an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s 2 States to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala! These 4 people have never worked together before and hence 2 States adaption is definitely one of the hugely awaited films of 2012 (wont release in 2011). The news was very sudden and was beautifully kept under wraps till the time of announcement…no tabloid or news agency managed to find out about this breaking news! SRK, along with Karan Johar, is also producing Student Of The Year (SOTY), to be directed by Karan Johar. Unlike other KJo films, SOTY wont star SRK and it has new faces-David Dhawan’s son Varun Dhawan, Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra! Alhough shooting hasn’t commenced, the first look was unveiled yesterday which was received warmly by the aam junta! CHECK OUT THE FIRST LOOK HERE: https://bollywoodhungama.com/movies/fstills/14275/index.html

All the best to SRK for all his endeavors!
