WILL WE ARE FAMILY CLICK AT THE BO?

The season of biggies is about to begin. From tomorrow till the end of the year, more than a dozen biggies will be hitting theatres week after week (almost). ‘We Are Family’ (WAF)is the first film of the season. Produced by Karan Johar and directed by debutant Siddharth P Malhotra, WAF is an official remake of the 1998 Hollywood flickStepmom. The film was initially scheduled to release on September 10 simultaneously withSalman-starrer Dabangg. Fortunately, better sense prevailed and the film got preponed by a week.

The best part of this film is undoubtedly its stellar cast-Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. All 3 have a huge fan following, including Arjun who is now a National Award winner and wowed audiences in his last flick Raajneeti. The theatrical trailer of the film (CHECK HERE!)is eye-catching and has managed to arouse some curiosity curiosity. Also, it seems like a good pure family film, something that we very rarely get to see nowadays. Hence WAF is heavily banking on the womenfolk and family audience to come in large numbers and appreciate the film!

However WAF may not turn out to be a risky affair. The curiosity is there but not as great as one would expect for a biggie. It may attract the family audience but it might not impress those who don’t like films dealing with woman and family issues. And there are quite a many belonging to this category! Moreover, the month of Ramzan is going on and hence the number of audience will already be less. And not to forget, the film should get a good response from critics and audience to attract more people from 2nd day onwards.

Under such circumstances, it’s difficult to predict the fate of WAF. It can go either ways (can succeed well or flop miserably) or it might just turn out to be an ‘okay film’. The film is arriving tomorrow(Thursday) itself since its Janmasthmi (holiday). But the film will get a limited release tomorrow and a full-fledged release from Friday. Let’s see how it fares!
