Do you have a filling or implant in ur teeth?? Well, then this post might interest u.

I have experienced a shooting pain in my teeth many a times while eating kaju barfi or for that matter any sweet having a silver foil on it, this happens when the metal crown on one of my teeth and the silver foil come in contact. I got the answer while surfing the net n m sharing it here………..quite interesting…………

“Anyone who bites a piece of aluminum foil in such a way that the foil presses against a dental filling will probably experience a momentary pain. The standard dental filling is an alloy of silver, tin and mercury. When a piece of aluminum or similar electrically active metal is placed in the mouth a wet-cell battery (electrochemical cell) is formed. The tooth fillings form one electrode, the piece of aluminum the other, and the mouth's saliva becomes the electrolyte. Contact between the aluminum and the filling short circuits the cell, causing a weak current to flow between the electrodes. This thus stimulates the sensitive nerve within the tooth, causing an unpleasant sensation. The current quickly stops, so the pain is brief.”
