DELL Laptop Purchase - a sad story

By: vipuladv | Posted Jun 12, 2010 | Computers | 683 Views | (Updated Jun 12, 2010 12:36 PM)

I was feeling high when I thought of changing my laptop and wished to buy Dell. I went to the market and saw many people selling Dell Laptops in Lucknow though I could not find there names on the Dell website as resellers. Then I punched the order online (Internet Reference Number: IN0000-4979-77750, Order Date: 8 June 2010).

Thereafter I did not receive any phone or email regarding the order. Then I called upon the Toll Free number and spoke to sales person and was told that direct delivery was not possible for Lucknow therefore I was told to Meet Mr. Ritesh Singh (Comexcell Technologies – Your Exclusive Dell Store at Lucknow) for the order to be processed.

I called up him on 8th June and he was not available. Then I visited his store on 10th June, 2010. Upon entering the store the lady receptionist made a scandalous comment, upon my appearance due to medical ailment, to the store owner and they laughed. Ignoring the issue, I asked him about the procedure to procure the ordered laptop. He replied that it would take 25 days and also there are many hidden costs while ordering online and insisted me to buy off the shelf and he showed me Inspiron 15R. Upon my asking, he said that he has many in stock and would give me a sealed box and not the one on display. Next day (i.e. 11-06-2010) I visited him at 3:00 p.m. to purchase the laptop. Then he said that the laptop on display was the last piece and there was no other option. I still agreed and paid him the money. Then another person of the store switched on the machine and started configuring it and was unable to create partitions. Thereafter he said that he shall get a sealed box from the company stockyard and asked me to come again at 7:30 p.m. I reached his place at 7:30 p.m. and he told me that he got the fresh piece from the company and had sent back the defective one. He also told me that he has checked it and is perfect. On this I told him that it was mutually agreed that the new box would be opened in my presence and why has he opened it. On this he said that he did it to speed up the sales procedure. Then I looked at the laptop and was astonished to see that it was the same defective laptop and upon my telling him about the Windows Key no. being the same he admitted that he had sent it to the service center and it is the same laptop. Feeling cheated the cheer of buying a new laptop went to drain and I cancelled the deal and took my refund. He did not even said sorry to his act of false commitment which amounts to cheating. I told him that I would never buy DELL, still he did not responded.

Anyway, my buying experience of DELL was indeed very sad.

Thanks for all the insults, loss of time and false commitments.
