Child Labor

There are a lot of people who would argue that child labor should be abolished. But should it really be abolished?? Has anyone ever thought about what will happen to these children if they do not get money to even eat?? Who will take responsibility when these children are starved to death?? People might say that I am not being logical ,but if one would really think hard he would understand why I am saying this.

Can someone please tell me whose fault it is, the employer who is employing them and giving them money to eat or the parents who have washed their hands off all responsibility by just giving birth to these children?? Is it not the responsibility of the parents to look after the welfare of their children?? Why give birth when you can't feed your own child?? What is the point in giving birth to a dozen of-children and then abandoning them in this world to fend for themselves?

I do agree that the children should not be allowed to work work in hazardous situations or conditions, such as working in mines, working with chemicals and pesticides in agriculture or working with dangerous machinery. But they should not be stopped from working at all. There a lot of places where a child can work without risking his life. If these children are not allowed to work ,all that these children will be left to do is ,wander on the streets and when they can no longer bare their hunger ,steal or beg for food. Is this what we want?? Do we want to force these children to become anti-socials? Who will take the-responsibility of these innocent children?? If we can't help them, then at least we shouldn't force these people to go into wrong path.Is it not much more prestigious to work and earn ones money than to steal someone else's hard earned money??

I know a lot of people would tell me that it is the responsibility of our government to take care of the underprivileged children. But does it really happen?? Do our minister ever bother to take care of these children? At the time of election these ministers come and make a lot of promises but do they really fulfill them??It it very easy to be idealistic and shut your eyes from the realities of life , but it real tough to be practical. Yes, we can help these children. But not by taking away their way of living ,but by making night schools where these children can study after their work. We should try to make these children literate and not turn them toward path by depriving them of their smallest means of living.I know a lot of people would not agree with me but then ,I speak what I feel. I do not care what people think of me. I proudly proclaim that Iwould gladly employ an underprivileged girl to work in my house. But I would certainly take care to make this girl literate. It is no use by just sitting in air conditioned rooms and writing pages after pages against child labor. If we really care to make a difference then we should try to teach attest one child how to read and write. Come let us try our best to help these children and make India a totally literate country.
