My Financial C A R E E R
One of the most widely used but mostly mis-spelt word I daily come across, in my professional life is C A R E E R. You are right, if you have guessed that I am related to Human Resources. I am an engineer by qualification but turned into a recruitment consultant. I should thank Mr. Mammen Varghese and Mr. Mathew Varghese of M/s. Jerry Varghese Consultants for this switchover, around 3 years back.
This word came into my life when I was around15 years old. There was an article by the title “My Financial Career” in our English Text Book. I don’t remember the author’s name. Around the same period, my eldest brother, was preparing his bio-data, who was about to complete his studies and preparing for Job Hunt. He asked me to checkup the dictionary for the correct spelling of the word. Instead of reaching to dictionary, I took my English text book and shown him the word. He was very pleased.
Now at the age of 50, I daily find many young and old, coming to me with their CVs, with the hope of brightening up their careers. But this word troubles me a lot when I see it mentioned as “CARRIER” . Can we consider this as a Synonym?
