CAN YOU READ?

By: sachindra | Posted May 07, 2009 | General | 399 Views

I kept wondering and asking myself this question again and again everytime I came across a commercial vehicle (yellow number plate 'gaadi' for the less informed ones) with a sticker on the dirty rear window mentioning "PLEASE CALL PHONE NO. 98BLAHBLAH OR BLAH BLAH 00 IN CASE OF NEGLIGENT DRIVING".

Always this sticker is big enough not to ignore it as it kept tapping on my vision, and the print is small enough only to be read when vehicle is stationary or in bumper to bumper traffic.

My question is if I can read this stupid billboard then the vehicle is slow enough to be called 'safe driving' and If the vehicle is on 'negligent driving mode' then I dare not try to read it otherwise I will end up in hospital or worse morgue.

Shouldn't there be a centralized number like 100 for all to remember? Since only thing I may read before the negligent driver zoomes away would be the number plate, and I can be the good citizen and call the centralized authority that so n so number vehicle was negligent driving, please slap on his wrist!

But I know this is the great country with enough freedom on everything, on my speech and the commercial vehicle's screech.

So till I can keep the social voice alive lets be kicking.
