Birthday of a movie reviewer-cum-singer-cum-psychologist

Today is the birthday of Aruna Thyagarajan or Aruna T. who is better known to the old MSians as moviezombie. Her passion for watching and assessing movies led her calling herself as moviezombie. She left India many years back after her marriage and as per the last information available, she's in Canada with her hubby and kid and working there as a clinical psychologist.

Aruna is such a passionate movie watcher that she watches all kinds of movies made in different languages and different countries. May it be a Japanese movie or a Spanish one or a French one or a Malaysian one or one made in any Indian regional language, Aruna can watch it, appreciate it if she finds it good and criticize it if she finds it bad. She wrote 99 reviews related to movies and did not complete her century of reviews because the practicing of oneupmanship and personalized attacks by certain MSians led her to quit this forum forever.

I came to know her when she became the first one to give a comment on a review written by me. It was the review of an old movie - Khamoshi whose story had a relation with the field of Psychology. Later I came to know that Aruna herself was a psychologist. I read her review of Dev D and instantly became her admirer. Being interested in writing movie reviews myself, I learnt a lot from her in this regard. I also got impressed by her single point devotion to write movie reviews only. She never wrote any blogs or sent any mobile messages or uploaded any photos. She wrote reviews only and that too related to movies only, nothing else. And that's called a true specialist, a specialist movie reviewer. There are many seasoned movie reviewers on MS but I found Aruna as the best, writing straight out of her heart but never losing focus from objectivity (though she asserts that movie reviewing is the most subjective thing).

After leaving MS, Aruna generously gave me her e-mail id and remained in contact for around a year. During this communication with her, I came to know of a different facet of her versatile personality. She is a singer and had sung for a Hollywood movie a few years back. I happened to listen to her (that) song on internet and later on I happened to listen to her voice again though a video uploaded on Youtube when she sang for a program organized by the Indians in Canada on the occasion of Diwali in 2010. Her melodic voice is a gift of God to her and listening to her is a pleasant experience for any music lover.

Aruna decided to give a new twist to her life when she left MS and set to do something worthwhile in the world of music. Though I remained associated with her on FB too for quite some time but the thread of communication got broken somewhere. Through FB only, I came to know of her visit to India last year and also the fact that she was expecting a good news within a few months from then (September 2011). But since then there has been no news about her.

I have got no communication from her for the past many months and her FB account also seems to have been deactivated. I am concerned about her. While wishing her a very happy birthday, I pray that she is hale and hearty and doing well in her life. We miss you Aruna. May you get everything you deserve and everything you desire for. Always take good care of yourself. God bless you.
