Ever since the first ipad went on sale in 2010, there has been unprecedented growth of apple's share in the tablet market. Just two weeks back , Apple sold its 100 millionth ipad .
No other company could manufactured a tablet smaller or better than ipad . Apple held 70% share in the tablet market until Google's 7-inch Nexus7 made an entry along with Amazon's Kindle Fire launched in October 2011. Apple started loosing its share.
Did you remember when Apple released its top-end ipod? Apple dominated the market of digital music player then.It came up with ipod mini and nano which further boosted apple's sale .
Now, Apple plans to follow similar strategy. To gain back its loosing shares Apple launched ipad mini on Oct 23,2012 . The size is so small that one can hold it with just one hand.(check the pics).
The release of this mini product shows that Apple is not ready to share even the smallest portion of its 70% share. But the price may prove a barrier for the potential buyers. The price for nexus 7 is $249 and Kindle Fire costs around $159 Nexus 7 being already lauched , it has already grown too much to be overthrown by ipad mini . Apple have to struggle a lot but can expect to take revenue away from Amazon.
