An outrageously expensive and unintersting walk

By: ddd9 | Posted Jul 23, 2014 | General | 159 Views

Bangalore walks. I've been to one of the Bangalore walks at Lalbagh, hosted by a portly gentleman wearing what looked like a safari hat, Mr.Vijay Thiruvady. The walk began early morning, with around thirty of us in Mr.Vijay's group, receiving a little pack of fruit juice and a brochure. For around two hours, we walked slowly across some sections of Lalbagh where he explained a bit about the history of some of the rocks and the origin of many of the trees and plants. Many people do seem to respect the fact that an old gentleman such as Mr.Vijay is taking the effort to share his knowledge about the heritage of the city. I liked it too, but found the narrative extremely boring and the depth of information, very poor. Our host cleverly avoided simple questions to which he didn't have any answers and people with internet on their mobile phones were telling him more about the trees than he knew. For Rs.500, I felt cheated. Besides, this person is earning close to 500*30 rupees every week in cash and has probably struck a deal with MTR hotel, because he takes most of the walkers there for breakfast after the walk. Dear Mr. Vijay: It's nice that you're doing these walks, but do reduce the fee to a more reasonable amount.
