Dear Friends,
All things in the world fit into two catagories - energy or matter .The matter is everything around us, can be solid a liquid or a gas .It depends on how the molecules act .
Here is the way to imagin what goes on in solids, liquids and gases .Pretend that you & 20 people are in a room, and each one of you is a molecule .If you all pretend that you are a part of a solid, like a chunk of a plastic, you will stand close together andlink arms . You will move back & forth from one foot to another while still touching .Molecules that locks together to make a solid still vibrate( more quickly back and forth but the movement is so small we doesn't notice it .
What happens if a solid changes to a liquid > In a liquid, molecules are loosly connected and move more quickly . Imagin this happens to you and the 20 other molecules - you will constantly bump into one another and touch for a second, but will then seperate to bump another person .the molecules in the liquid can slide past one another and do not keep the same neibhours as they do in solids . If a person loses contact with the group and floats out into the room, he or she has become a gas . As gas molecules, you and the group would fill up the whole room and not form a shape . Gas molecules move even faster than those in liquid . You and the other molecules would run around fast but would hardly ever bump into one another .
FUN FACT: Matter can change form, but matter is never created nor destroyed .
