A candid review of “Can love happen twice?” by Ravinder Singh

A sequel to the ‘I Too Had a Love Story‘, ‘Can Love Happen Twice’ is the story of Ravinder Singh’s(fiction this time) second attempt at love with an Indian girl, he finds in Belgium when he visits the foreign land for a company project.

Ravinder Singh, the author after receiving much praise and appraise from his first novel “I too had a love story” now has take upon a chance to make its sequel “Can love happen twice?” back with his second book where he tells in the books that it is his own story and takes its lead to the time after Khushi’s departure.(His beloved who had died in a truck accident in his first book, ‘I too had a love story’).

Those who were touched by the author’s first book would definitely pick up its sequel in a quest to know more about what happened with the protagonist. You would be expecting some more incredible things in the second book but, we should remember that many a time all those hopes can fall flat when the author’s work doesn’t meet our expectations. The above statement has been mentioned due to some definite reason that I am going to reveal below.

The story has been over-hyped unlike the story in his first book which captured many hearts. The book certainly looks like a work of the author’s imagination as he tried to sell the old and stale love story in a new packaging.

The story being too shallow is not only the problem which stands here but also the characters are poorly sketched as to draw an interest to the reader. With the extra masala dosage and highly anticipated story, the effort of making a sequel has failed. The story is more like that of a some Bollywood movie where boy is lonely at heart and live in his past and goes abroad for some company project. He finds there an Indian girl and falls in love with her. After he returned to India, the problem start arising due to the girl’s career and she breaks up with him and the boy go insane and while running on the streets encounters an accident. And the story ends up with showing him in a rehabilitation center. And guess who is narrating us the story? The protagonist’s three friends, who turned up on a radio show and the main character fails to come.

The author has put in efforts to grab the attention of the readers but has failed to do so. With an unavoidable comparison which draws between his first book and its sequel where he couldn’t stand up fullest to meet up readers expectations.
