Although I have consecrated my life to living very differently from others, it is easy to get infected with the constant negativism with which we are all bombarded day in and day out. Thus, though I enjoyed writing reviews, I fell victim to a couple of voices which made me wonder if I was being paid by Mouthshut. Ultimately, it led me to stop writing for Mouthshut until I was paid(due to my changing my bank account from one branch to another I could not track payments and so I did not know that I was paid). It also made me pester Mouthshut to request that I be paid the pending amounts.
I bow my head before the grace of character of Mouthshut staff that they patiently replied though the fault was largely mine. It is only when they sent me, a few days back, a record of their payments that I realised that I have not been able to keep track of the rewards as I had recently changed my bank account from one branch to the other.
Thus, it is true that I shall have to verify Mouthshut's claim but it made me realise that one must take care of such things before opening one's mouth all too wide to distress others. HDFC has just now verified over the phone that all the payments Mouthshut told me they have done have been credited to my account.
I readily confess that it is shameful of me to blame others. But it is very difficult not to get swept away when we think we are being cheated. Also, it was a scary and difficult to handle situation as, on the one hand, the fact that my reviews appeared regularly drew to me some unpleasantness and, on the other, as I have not been a regular earning member of the family, I was terrified to think that I was wasting precious time and being irresponsible when the other members were working so hard every day, doing "real" jobs.
It is not easy to live according to a philosophy which challenges much that is the basis of life today for so many. Even striving to do that causes some people to be always waiting for one to stumble or such people to always give one the impression that one is being lazy while the rest slog it out. People prefer by far to share fancy Facebook forwards about European looking people leading a non-earning and meaningful life than to realise there might be someone they know who is trying to practice a sanyas of sorts right here right now.
However, all that angst apart, I'm delighted to state that I'm back! Look out for my reviews and I hope you'll enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy typing them out!
