I was in hunt for a good whole house water softener for my new house along with few Bosch kitchen appliances. Hence I went to Intend trading enterprises(Bosch dealer located at Sarjapur road, Bangalore, also retails 3M products) to check Bosch solar water heater. During conversation with sales executive on Solar water heater, I mentioned I was looking a water softener as well. Then immediately he recommended 3M AP141T whole house water filtration system as a water softener. I bought two filters(each costs 13,000 INR, 2 because each filter can handle 10 US gallons per minute pressure). I fixed it just before overhead tank. Used it for 2-3 days, haven't felt any difference in water. A sales guy approached our home to sell water softener and solar water heater, he tested the PPM, which was 615. Meaning 3M filters haven't softened the water. I tried calling up their toll free customer care, I couldn't connect to them for 5 days atleast tried 10 times a day. Later I had a chat with customer support on web, they confirmed that this filter is not a water softener it only filters and reduces turbidity(water color, more turbidity means more yellowish or brownish water you see). I didn't even see any difference in turbidity levels as well(haven't tested turbidity as it is not a simple/easy process). Then I wrote to customer care, about this problem. After few days they reverted over call asking what is concern I have. I answered that this filter is neither softening the water nor reducing turbidity level. Then he said this filter does both with some technical explanation, since we couldn't find any change in both he said he would send a technician. Technician has come to house after 10 days and said filter has to be cleaned everyday and just left without testing or proving its functionality. Useless company never comes back to check again. I cannot go and fight at consumer court I just remained calm regretting for wasting 26000 INR on this useless filters. Only thing I could do is to save/help people from 3M's useless products. 3M - SELL and FORGET COMPANY. Do not buy its products. I used car products as well, they can never prove their product's functionality.
