First Service Experience- as expected ,Tata service at Dhingra Motors in Gurgaon was a poor experience. It reaffirmed my belief that buying a higher value Tata car is not a great idea. It began when I reached the service station- every service advisor was too busy to attend to me, and only when the ...Customer Service Manager called someone and shouted at him did I get a response. The guy took my car- it had an obvious dent on the bumper and I wanted that repaired, but no questions asked about that at all. I had to push for this to be done. The bumper work was done and I was called to the service center between 11 AM and 12 PM. I reached at 11:45 AM. When I requested the service advisor, he says that the car is still to be washed, and starts arguing with me that he asked me to come at 12:00 PM (it was already 12:05 by this time). The argument was despite my being exceedingly polite with him. Post this, I received the car- no details provided to me about the service work carried out on my car. The front bumper which was repaired still had dust on it from the paint shop, which proves that it was just wiped with a cloth and brought out. I also suspect that they didn't service the car at all. The car is just beautiful, and is an amazing performer for its price, but Tata service really sucks big time. They take a survey at the end of each service, but this is merely for lip service- no improvements happen after the survey. Tata is only good for making commercial vehicles- they should stop selling products other than the Nano to premium customers. My belief is reaffirmed that the bigger vehicle I'm about to buy would be a Toyota InnovaRead More

Why are you writing the same review under 2 different headings? Also, have you tried to claim the warranty ifthe car is giving so many issues. As far I'm concerned, the Nano is a very good engineering achievement. Tata service does leave a lot to be desired, but one only needs to be persistent

At least they don't insult you by stating that your english is not ''Good Enough'' when you try to join the forum. It's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. And when I look at the atrocious english of some of the people posting, I wonder what GTO is thinking, to allow them onto his forum and prev...ent genuine people. I have driven over 75000 km around the country- there's probably very few people out there with the kind of driving experience I have. What do I need to state to join that stupid forum- that I own 4 cars and how great each of them is? So, after two attempts, I gave up and said ''Thank you very much''- there's other places on the Internet that would value my experienceRead More

============================================================================= Original Review: I got immediate delivery of my Brand New Swift Vdi Sunlight Copper on 2-Jan-2009 from Mandovi Motors Bangalore. I chose this car after going through multiple test drives of several second hand and B...rand New cars based on test drive experience, product features, market feedback and finance options. I was lucky to get delivery within 3 days, as most people wait for upto 8 weeks to get delivery of their desired color. This car was just waiting there for me it seems :). The dealership staff were most friendly in the whole interaction, which is a cut above both Ford and Tata Dealerships. The only other car company with a comparable dealership staff is Hyundai. I initially went there for a second hand car (True Value), but I ended up buying a new car. It was only because of the way the staff treated me, be it in test drives, financing or any other step of the process, that I changed my decision. Even though True Value and New Car sales staff are separate, I did not experience any kind of trouble in terms of ill feelings amongst the staff etc. From day 1, I found the car to be a great performer. My first highway drive experience was from Bangalore to Melukote, which was wonderful. After this, I have also taken the car to Bangalore-Tirupathi-Chennai-Bangalore, which was also a wonderful experience. My uncle, who has driven several vehicles was also all praise for it's silent cabin and highway performance.Read More

Rattling Noise?? I am yet to observe this. FYI- I have done 42500 km in 1 year and 9 months since I bought my Vdi and I have never had such noises. I have in fact received compliments from Relatives and Friends who drive Petrol vehicles as to how noiseless this car is. Two people I know have bought ...the vehicle after reading my review and agree with me completely. For good services in Bangalore, try either Pratham Motors on Sarjapur Outer Ring Road. They are the best from what I have seen so far. I would always advise anyone to go for a Swift Vdi if they are looking for a premium B-Segment Diesel Hatch. No other car comes even close in Build Quality, Engine Performance, Mileage, Service Quality, Value For Money and.. most important of all, Sheer Driving Pleasure. Other alternatives exist in the market. But the compromise is on Service Quality, Cost of spares and services and dealer network, all points on which Maruti is a winnerRead More

@Navin_Kamath, Till now my average maintenance bill when I go for a routine maintenance every 10,000 km has been in the range of INR 3000 max. Because I have used my car so much, I have had to replace my brake pads once . That's it. No probs with the diesel and the low cost of fuel and high ef...ficiency certainly argues in favour of buying a diesel instead of a petrol.Read More

Trust me on one thing... once you get a Swift Vdi, you're not going to drive just 200 km per month. It's such a pleasure to drive on the highway that you will end up doing it. Please buy a Swift Ldi or Vdi even if your usage is low, as you will feel like driving on the highway once you get either ve...hicle.Read More

Continued.... You can hardly even feel this car go to 120 km/h on the highway. With minimum fuss, it keeps eating up the kilometres on the highway. It is one of the best cars in it’s class, if not the best. On cons, nothing much that you don’t find with other cars: 1. Less space in the back... seat than in the Indica Vista. But I don’t really mind as it is mostly only me and my wife, and very rarely someone in the back seat. It is still not too bad, since I myself sat in the back seat from Tirupathi to Chennai (160 km) and did not feel any discomfort. Maruti only need to redesign the gearshift console a little (reduce the amount of the console jutting into the back seat to make it more comfortable. 2. Reverse gear falls very reluctantly half the time. I find this very frustrating at times. Service-wise, Maruti is great. When I gave the car for the first service, I was called once the service was completed and asked to take delivery. A person from the Maruti Call Center called me the next day to ask how the service was and how the car is performing. Then someone called me after 10 days to again ask about the car’s performance, which is all very thoughtful. No wonder Maruti tops the JD Powers charts on service quality. Overall, I recommend this car for sheer peace of mind. One point to note though- If you are buying a full-body cover for your car, go for the Maruti Genuine Accessories (MGA) cover from the dealership. It is more expensive than what you find in the market, but the quality is far far above the local market products.Read More

The fun of driving this car is on the highway, when you find that you are leaving behind everyone else. That's when you realize how good a decision you made. Do update us of progress on your car as you pass various km milestones.

I find this very difficult to believe after driving over 2000 KM on the highway. The power steering behaves perfectly well. If this was not the case, every Swift on the highway should have got wrecked. I can very clearly make out that my steering becomes stiffer at higher speeds and I have to use mo...re energy to turn. So this is not true at all. Also, all cars now use an even more advanced Electronic Power Steering system, which has even higher reliability. The accident you are referring to is caused either by human error or some failure in the steering system. Considering the amount of testing all these systems go through (I have worked in the Auto sector), I very much doubt it was the latterRead More
