Voice against Injustice Parents protest fee hike by private schools in Delhi suburbs Noida: Parents in the National Capital Region (NCR) Monday held demonstrations against the hike in school fees of their children in the times of recession. A group of about 150 parents held an agitation outsi...de Ryan International and Sommerville schools in Greater Noida while in Noida the demonstration was held outside the Delhi Public School to demand a roll-back of fee hike. In Ghaziabad, a protest was organised at the Dehradun Public School. The protesters asked the schools to revoke the hike and threatened to boycott the Lok Sabha polls if their demands were not met. Most private schools in the capital and nearby townships have increased the fees in view of the hike in salaries of government employees on the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. To pay the arrears to the teachers, the schools have passed off the burden to the parents. 'We are already going through tough times. Many of the parents have also lost their jobs during current recession. The schools, instead of understanding this, have passed off the entire burden on to us,' said Anup Khanna, general secretary of Gautam Budh Nagar Guardians' Association. 'This is really pinching our pockets. Only we know how we are managing the entire finances,' Khanna said. 'The schools are humiliating us during these tough times. We have decided not to pay the arrears that the schools have demanded from us,' said Khanna. Source: Indo-Asian News Service Read More

Mr. Sridhar We appreciate the fact that your SYA institution imparts good education with less cost for underpriviledged, well all the population in Bangalore cannot come to one school , We need to have good schools in each locality so that the students dont travel very far off. Which is very less i...n Bangalore any school even the newest & smallest one takes a fat sum ! where do middle class parents go ? Let me ask one more question why didn't u educate your daughter in SYA institute ? Why you chose NHPS ? Every parent wishes to put their children in a good school & NHPS took everyone by surprise this year by demanding huge sum without prior information. None of the parents were expecting this much amount from this school. Look how they are taking different routes to cheat people when admissions forms were sold out publicly they are still giving out forms & selling for money. Do you still think this school is good !!!!!! I totally understand the anguish & anger expessed by many parents who have suffered. Only people who goes through will understand, may be ex students or students who are studying already didn't have such an experience at the time when they took admissions. NHPS has this new found greed this year & should see in coming years it will multiply i guess. This is to all parents who want to take admissions next year in NHPS, dont be surprised if they ask 3 lakhs to 5 lakhs for nursery seat !!! Read More

NHPS - Interview conducted by the school & making small kids slog for whole day was an eye wash. They are still selling application forms in the school for 1,60,000/-anyone who desparately needs admission to this school can still seek forms & get admissions easily by throwing money to the fake orpha...nge. Kukreja computers i guess is one & only competent supplier of computers in India , I have seen a lot of invoices in NHPS admission office with ' Kukreja Computers ' name.I think Kukreja computers is very much part of NHPS & after collecting money from parents they return back the systems to this firm to dupe other parents. The Principal Sharmila Mrichandani who was pretending to be very strict with no smile on her face was actually giggling with other teachers & staff once interview was completed without realising many parents were still there in the Premises. Reality is that NHPS has goofed up on the admissions for 2009 - 10 batch. Thousands of kids are affected by this dirty game played by the school.Read More

charged by schools ``will be subject to any law on the subject and the respective affiliation bye-laws or regulations'. In the same order, the bench allowed the government to come out with a fresh notification conforming to norms fixed by Karnataka Education Institutions (Regulation of Certain Fees ...and Donations) Rules, 1999. The court issued these directions based on a writ petition. The government has still not issued a fresh notification fixing the fees that can be collected by the ICSE and CBSE schools, a senior official confirmed. In the absence of a notification, schools continue to collect excess fees.Read More

To all Parents : Pls see cut out from Primary Education department of Karnataka, you can be useful citizens by giving written complaint to them to take action against the school authorities.. BANGALORE: Even as complaints pour in about hefty donations being collected by schools affiliate...d to the state syllabus, CBSE or ICSE, the Education Department is not able to initiate action against them in the absence of written complaints. Though parents refuse to submit a written complaint to the education department, they swear they are being fleeced by schools. ``There seems to be no respite from the harassment schools are subjecting us to. My son is enrolled in a school in Indiranagar. They are threatening that we pay the excess fees, or the child will be removed from the school. What am I supposed to do?’’ asks a parent. The department, however, says it cannot initiate action against schools in the absence of written complaints from parents. They cannot even issue warnings against them, a senior official said. Said Primary Education Director G. L. Hegde, ``We cannot initiate legal action against any school based on hearsay. The department needs written complaints as proof. On receiving complaints, action will be taken as per the Karnataka Education Act, 1983.’’ He said complaints can be submitted to the Deputy Directors of Public Instruction (DDPI), which would be scrutinised by an Enforcement Committee comprising the education department officials. Last year, the Karnataka High Court had warned ICSE and CBSE schools against collecting any capitation fee or donation in any form, either voluntarily or otherwise, from students. The ICSE and CBSE schools had challenged a government notification regulating fees and donations and bringing them under the purview of the Karnataka Education Institutions (Regulation of Certain fees and donations) Rules, 1999. The two-member bench comprising Justice G C Bharuka and Justice Mohamed Anwar, however, sRead More

I have been a constant reader of reviews on various schools. This one is quite baffling. How can a school suck so much from a parent? Dont they have any restrictions from the Education board, are they any rules laid by the government to stop this? There are schools in Bangalore which are q...Read more
