My ex-employer taught me about abuse

Jul 28, 2008 07:54 PM

Response to Well... I think you missed the point really. Throughout my passage what I have been saying is dont do what I did. Everything makes sense as long as it is not happening to you. As for ICICI Bank, its not about gender discrimination that I had an issue with. Its about the way they tr...eat employees in general. I havent heard of people having filled their KRAs keeping their profile in mind or having had a discussion of their appraisal in ICICI. You may have had a great tenure there so to each their own. But I feel any organization's success is as good as its people's quality & satisfaction. ICICI gets hit very badly in today's economy for a reason. Btw, in my 2 year tenure, I have never spoken to or met anyone from HR. What was or is your good experience? To me, ICICI's HR is a hiring machine. I've seen HR that works on people's productivity, involvement and satisfaction. They are cliches and good to haves but thats for a reason too. Best run bank? I think only some expert can say that. As far as I know ICICI treats lots of people like dirt and I dont care if its good bank or not. Unfortunately, I have the guts to go ahead and choose the organization I want to work with rather let organizations choose me. About wolves in sheep's clothing. Well I can take care of that as I have done before. By the way, after all the issues, he was the one who left before me not I. Ever wondered why? And this is not my rant for sympathy by any means. Its a recount of my experience and thats all it is. And it wasn’t my 1st job but my 3rd :)Read More

A hollow moment!

:) Why fake a smile when you dont feel it. Go ahead and feel what you feel to make it go away. The more we try to make it go because thats what we've been asked to do, the worse it gets. And once you go ahead and let yourself feel it, you will slowly become numb to it.

The Legacy of Duryodhana .....

Jul 28, 2008 02:08 PM

Good Vs Bad? Hi I can see this has stirred quite a few minds. So much so that I am inspired to write about this topic too. But what I feel is that there is nothing good or bad. There may be a good or bad result. I have read the Mahabharata and my take is that Duryodhana lost because he though...t of short term relief most of the time and couldnt see the long term. He didnt really know himself and was more caught up in showing his rivals in poor light. Look at Krishna critically and you would agree that he has both good and bad. All of us have good and bad in us too and the bad should also be used but at the right time. If you dont use the bad, it grows to become the hidden monster in you.Read More

Anu disliked what she saw in the mirror but it wasnt so bad. She had drowned herself in her book and lost track of time. She was running late for the afternoon class and had no time to wash off the oil in her hair so she had pinned it up neatly. At the institute, Anu was intently listening to her gu...Read more

My ex-employer taught me about abuse

response to well done You'll be surprised. I doubt ICICI Bank has a system of exit interviews. They dont even discuss appraisals. Worse, when I used to fill my KRA sheet for the year, I was clueless because I was practically without a profile so my next year's rating also went for a toss. There are... all kinds of lows and we need to be able to spot them.Read More

My ex-employer taught me about abuse

Jul 24, 2008 03:49 PM

My ex-employer taught me about abuse Much more had happened. But there's a word limit on mouthshut. My rating went for a toss and took my morale with it. I had always been a preformer and wasnt prepared for this. I turned to a mangled mass of negativity, sadness and depression. I lost my promotion o...bviously. The bottomline is I wrote this because I dont want anyone else to go through what I went through. Dont take abuse lying down and dont wait to figure things out. Abuse and sabotage is a reality in the corporate world. Pls dont waste time trying to understand ''why me''? Take action or leave the job. My boss did indelible damage to my image for no fault of mine. Dont let that happen. Today I am much happier in Kotak Bank - I enjoy what I do, am recognized for my work, got a good rating in the first time itself and I am surrounded by people who treat human beings like human beings. Thank God I'm out of ICICI Bank IBG.Read More

My ex-employer taught me about abuse

My ex-employer (ICICI Bank Ltd.) taught me a lot about work place abuse. I learnt that the worst kind of abuse is one where you are left wondering whether you are being abused or not. Typically the dilemma is "Am I really a good for nothing or is this person picking on me and bullying me?" A sure sh...Read more
