Geeta-ji, you have done well in trying to psycho-analyze this movie. Your frustration with the movie arises because you feel Qala had her wings clipped just as she was ruthlessly rising to the top. But the movie's priorities are different. Ambition is only a subset here - the dominant theme from... start to finish is dysphoria, and the movie always stays true to to it. Qala is a go-getter alright but she's always imbrued from the get-go, with her mother's negativity and her own ghosts. She's always haunted from the start - that never stops, and it eventually consumes her. The director stuck to her thematic plan throughout, but the execution could have been more layered in the story-telling.Read More

Superb review Mathurji. I'd heard of the songs ('Saawan ka Maheena') but didn't know much about the movie, thank you for highlighting this love story, I need to watch it. Looks like it has some parallels to 'Shyam Singha Roy' (2021), A Telugu movie which made a lot of wave...s - starts slowly but then explodes ! Love and rebirth - Ah, the resurrected joy ! reminds one of the magnificent novel 'Love in the Time of Cholera', though in this one, rebirth is covered in the same birth !Read More

Excellently written review - designed to inspire more curiosity about the movie as you've mentioned no cast, nor the movie's language nor country of origin ! A true ghost story ! Thought I'll catch it on a streaming service but it's not there on Netflix or Amazon.
