Origin of Words.. The most common ones used today

Have you wondered how did each words originate?


There should be a root to all of them, a history behind every meaningful collection of alphabets.


Lets go down the memory lane and explore how some of them came into existence.


1) Trojan Horse: Its a type of virus common nowadays.


The Greeks gifted a Horse replica made out of wood, as a gift to the Troy as a ceasefire gift. Though hidden inside was a small group of army who opened the city doors in the night and won the war for the Greeks.


2) Quarantine: To separate something from the environment to observe or restrict its behavior.


During the Black Plague the Italian Navy didn't allow any ship to dock on its shore until they spend Forty days near the same. If any affected rat of person is in the ship then everyone will be infected in those Forty days of halt and die eventually. Thus restricting the plague in Italy. Forty in Italian is pronounced as "Quaranta" hence the word Quarantine.


3) Social: Commonly used word today, it means to communicate, partner and everyone has their own version. But we all know what it means to us.


A Latin word "socii" meaning allies, that's what Italian used to call people from neighboring states.
