Coming to Secunderabad

Here I am, settled in Secunderabad, as the twin city of Hyderabad is called. Reached here on a 10 month training schedule and have spent 1 of the 10 already. Do I like the place. Most certainly! Do I miss the small village where I came from as also Delhi where I spent at least 3 months a year, again certainly!

Had heard a lot about Hyderabad and some of it is turning out to be true. The weather is certainly better. The people are more helpful, though it is quite an affair making myself understood to those who understand only Telugu, my dhobi for one. Sign language can work only so far. The common tradesmen charge a reasonable price and do the work as promised. What a change from Delhi.

Visited a few malls. Not as well designed as Delhi. Went to GVK, the one most people were raving about. Found their food court closed, so had to search in later part of afternoon for a bite. Most irritating, that. Biryani at Paradise was yummy as was 'Khubani ka Meetha' though we could eat just about 3/4 of a single helping in my family of 3.

Movie tickets are much easier to come by. Watched a movie in a single screen theatre (Tivoli), after a long time. Almost all shops seem to be having some or the other SALE, many of them just jacking up prices to offer a discount back to a fair price. Part of the game everywhere. Saw a whole row of shops in Karkhana area having permanent SALE boards, almost all following the above dictum.

In short, like any other city, except the weather and the people seem better. Initial experiences are such. Will get back with more later.

au revoir
