UBI is also known as the'Tea Bank' because of its age-old financing of tea gardens .UBI has around 1999 branches and offices.
It is the Lead Bank in about 30 districts in the States of West Bengal, Assam, Manipur and Tripura. It is also the Convener of the State Level Bankers' Committees(SLBC) for the States of West Bengal and Tripura.

The winds of change is yet to touch UBI as it continues to provide customer service in a sloppy fashion.It is yet to encore technology into various operational processes.Customer is still not the King as with he private sector banks.Change it should if it wants to survive this competitive world.
