Yes, the film was frightened so much by CBFC(Central Board of Film Certification) for 89 cuts which reduced to 13 cuts.
After a legal fight, the directors and producers manage to reduce to only 1 cut.After this, a massive blow to the makers was, the film leaked onto the internet just before 2 days of the releasing date.Despite those incidents, the film released and performed well at the box office.Udta Punjab is the highest earning movie of Shahid Kapoor's career so far.
