As im from kolkata I can only tell the situation of kolkata now. Uber is now very much popular. In some cases it comes helpful. But sometimes it does not go well. Base fair of uber is 40 rupees and rupees 7 per kilometer. Some things is usefull but location service or uber is poor. There are not much car in kolkata. So you have to wait 5-15 minutes for arrival of car. In afternoon its usually gets higher price. Today I got 1.6× of original fare. One thing is very usefull of uber is promotional rides. U get 50 rupees off for 3 rides. Honestly in my view uber is costly than ola. Drivers are nice most of the time. One good thing is u can see the total fare before booking a ride. Ubee need to run outside kolkata and run more cars. Over all its ok.
