It is my habit to watch every other horror film that enters the theatres. It is the thrill, the suspense and the goose bump giving scares that keeps me motivated for films of this genre.
So I watched it in the theatres and believe me unlike many criticisms, I found this movie a classic horror flick - truely gripping, scary and brilliant audience manipulative sound and visual effects. I had watched Conjuring 1 and I could bet my money that this one is more scary than its predecessor.
The plot of this movie surrounds around the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warrens' cliched attempts in driving out evil spirits from cursed houses just like the previous movie. It is based on the true story of the Enfield poltergeist and trust me they have shown the reality of that incident of 1977 exactly as it occurred. The movie captures the torments faced by the cursed family until they are rescued by the investigators.
The cast apart from Ed and Lorraine Warren has been a tad disappointing compared to the previous film. We actually cared for the family in the previous film but this feeling is missing here. The first film had more suspense and less scares while this one does have suspense but focuses more on giving the numbing scares to the audience. And importantly the antagonist spirit here is way more intimidating than the former. There was a moment when it seemed completely invincible and the investigators seemed to be at its mercy.
I would recommend horror movie lovers to watch this!
