SBI may want you to believe that they have turned over a new leaf with all their advertising with MS Dhoni and Smriti Mandhana. The experience of banking with them speaks otherwise.
1. A simple transfer of a branch from one city to another city took 1.5 yrs to complete! And that too after several follows ups to the branch at Horamavu.
2. My mother who is a super senior citizen(80+ yrs) was put to great inconvenience. Her KYC was done just an year back but was again demanded by the bank. No doorstep banking service was provided. I was asked to download Doorstep banking service app which itself refused to register her as her phone number was not updated in the Central Banking system. Subsequently all her banking services were suspended and even cheques were not honored.
After another visit to the branch, the operations manager gave an email ID to which KYC documents could be emailed(I dont' see a reason why she could not have given it in the first place). After having emailed the self attested documents, I'm still waiting for her KYC to be done. God alone knows when it'll be done.
3. I opened a joint a/c with my wife and was told she would be given access to the joint a/c. But after several visits and filling up request forms, the operations manager tells me that the joint a/c holder has only limited rights and no full transaction rights. I'm closing the account and opening it with a small finance bank which provides far better customer service and better interest rates too.
Can you see how inefficient the PSU banking system is. No wonder HDFC came in with superior service and took over a huge share. SBI has just gotten fat and sluggish with inefficient systems and clueless employees.
